Media Conference for signing of contract for new multi million dollar computerised student information system

COMMENCING 11AM MONDAY, 18 AUGUST

VENUE: CONFERENCE ROOM B, (ADJACENT TO DEPARTURE GATE 1) TULLAMARINE AIRPORT, MELBOURNE.

Members of the media are invited to attend a conference to witness the signing of a multi-million dollar contract for a new computerised student information system between the AVCC’s wholly owned subsidiary company UniCAS Pty. Ltd. and the developers of the new system, Deakin Software Services Pty. Ltd ("DSS").

The signing will be by Professor Don McNicol, Chairman of UniCAS and Professor Geoff Wilson, Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University, for DSS. Also in attendance and available for questions and photographs will be Professor Millicent Poole, Vice-Chancellor of Edith Cowan University, which is to be one of the first six universities to adopt the new Oracle-based system, and Mr. Ken Baumber, Chairman of UniON Pty Ltd, which has been responsible for development of specifications for the new system.

The universities presently committed to signing the new agreement are: Edith Cowan, Griffith, Murdoch, QUT, UWS Macarthur, Wollongong. A number of other universities have the system under active consideration.

THIS CONFERENCE WILL BE OF SPECIAL INTEREST TO JOURNALISTS IN THE AREAS OF HIGHER EDUCATION, COMPUTERS AND INFORMATION, AND BUSINESS.
