$87.3 million funding for RQF implementation a win for universities

The Australian Vice-Chancellors’ Committee (AVCC) has congratulated the announcement by the Minister for Education, Science and Training, the Hon Julie Bishop MP of $87.3 million funding for the implementation of the Research Quality Framework (RQF).

AVCC President Professor Gerard Sutton said that the funding, $41.9 million specifically for universities, would assist in covering the significant costs of preparing for the implementation of the first cycle of the RQF, due in 2008.

“The AVCC is pleased that there is recognition of the complexities and costs associated with implementing the RQF,” Professor Sutton said.

“Vice-Chancellors are particularly happy with the funding ($25.5 million) being provided to universities to assist in the establishment of digital data storage systems on campus that will facilitate the RQF process,” Professor Sutton said.
