Established in 1958, Monash is the youngest member of the highly-regarded Group of Eight universities. In just over fifty years we've grown to become the largest university in Australia, renowned for our outstanding teaching, transformative research, global reach and extensive alumni network (now extending to more than 250,000 members across the world). Change lies at the heart of our philosophy. We encourage our students to change their own lives so that they can go on to change the lives of others. This desire to make a difference informs everything we do, not least of all our research. Already widely known for achievements in areas like health, accident prevention, sustainability and chemistry, Monash researchers make an impact well beyond the academic sphere. They work towards discoveries that have the potential to transform people's lives for the better, not only in Australia, but throughout the world. While we're large, we don't let our students get lost in the crowd. In fact, we've long been recognised for our exceptional staff-student ratio, which allows us to offer a personalised learning experience. We know that in education, one size never fits all, and we encourage our students to pursue their ambitions no matter how daring they might be. For that reason, we attract students who want more from their tertiary education than just classroom learning and broad career skills. Monash Passport plays a big part in making this possible. Monash Passport is the University's education model. The many programs included as part of Passport give students the chance to turn theory into action through volunteering, internships and industry-based learning; form a broader world-view by gaining international experience; immerse themselves in research from the very first day of their degree; and get deeper into a career, sooner, by acquiring knowledge and skills across disciplines. These are just a few of the many benefits that a student can look forward to when they choose Monash.
