The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) is responsible for overseeing research and research training across the university. This includes:
- responding to changes in government policy relating to research activities
- grants and philanthropy to support university research
- awarding of postgraduate scholarships
- representation of the university on external research related boards, committees and other forums.
Universities Australia cordinates meetings of all Deputy Vice-Chancellors (Research) three times a year to discuss issues of interest. In addition, an executive has been formed to action urgent issues out-of-session. The executive for 2012 comprises:
