Victoria University is a diverse, multi-sector university based in Melbourne, Victoria. We are not only one of Australia's largest universities, but have one of the greatest international student mixes at any Australian tertiary institution. Victoria's and Australia's fastest growing region, the West of Melbourne (including the north-west and the south-west), is our heartland. We have a significant presence in the western part of Melbourne's CBD and a spine of campuses through the West of Melbourne, centred on Footscray and St Albans, with smaller campuses and partnerships in other parts of the west, south-west and north-west. We also operate on a trans-national basis with partners in Asia (e.g. China, India and Malaysia), America and Europe.

We have more than 53,000 enrolled students, including over 14,000 international students studying onshore and offshore, more than 4,500 staff and 10 locations - three in Melbourne's CBD and seven across the western region. In 2011, VU presented 16,037 awards: 5421 higher education; and 10,616 vocational and further education (TAFE).
Victoria University is proud of its leadership role in the west of Melbourne. We service a very diverse student cohort, with a wide range of countries, cultures, socio economic and educational backgrounds represented. In this globalised world, cross cultural skills are at a premium, and Victoria University is well placed to be a leader in fostering them. We also have a well established reputation for increasing opportunity for participation in tertiary education among students from low socio economic backgrounds, which is now regarded as a major national priority.

Linked with the diversity of educational backgrounds of its students, Victoria University offers programs at all levels of the Australian Qualifications Framework, with a comprehensive range of degree and vocational options from certificates and diplomas through to bachelor degrees and PhDs.

We have stronger connections with industry, the trades and professions than most universities, and we shape our offer to students around industry needs. Work-integrated learning is central to this, as is Victoria University's commitment to knowledge exchange (including applied research) in a number of industry sectors. We are strengthening our focus as an international university that is responsive to the changing nature of work and the workplace, with a dedication to making a real difference to the lives of people in Melbourne's west.

Our vision is to be excellent, engaged and accessible, and to be internationally recognised for our leadership in empowering a diverse community of students to grow their capabilities and transform their lives. We also aim to engage with industry and community to make the world a better place, through the creation, sharing and use of new knowledge. Our graduates will leave Victoria University having been exposed to engaged learning and teaching, and with access to diverse learning pathways.

As a university, and as a dynamic and prosperous organisation, we pursue our mission with courage and boldness, innovation and agility.
