March 2008

Universities Australia made a submission to the MCEETYA Joint Committee on Higher Education's inquiry into the desirability of a national higher education accreditation body. The submission noted that the revised National Protocols for Higher Education Approval Processes were designed to improve the overall consistency of accreditation outcomes across jurisdictions.

Preliminary comments on the advantages and disadvantages of a national higher education accreditation body were offered to the committee. These comments do not neccessarily reflect Universities Australia's position regarding the subsequent Higher Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) legislation proposed by government.
