Universities Australia wishes to provide the following as comment on the National Health Workforce Taskforce (NHWT) discussion paper Clinical training - governance and organisation. In particular, we focus on the roles and tasks which should be assigned to any new National Clinical Placements Agency. I apologise for the delay in responding.
As has been communicated Universities Australia is firmly of the view that a correctly established and adequately funded Agency will alleviate many of the issues and concerns currently experienced by those involved in clinical education.
Universities Australia is pleased to work with the Commonwealth and other agencies on this important matter. We have received feedback and advice from individual university staff members which informed our view of the key features required in the new Agency, including its role, governance and powers.
