New and improved vaccines to counter devastating infectious diseases, ways to lessen the side effects of chemotherapy and the ability to manipulate the body’s immune system to fight off disease – these are the aims and results of ground-breaking research undertaken in Australia’s universities and medical research institutes in 2013.

It continues Australia’s long and enviable record in medical research which has significantly contributed to some of the world’s most important medical discoveries.
