The mission of the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), like universities around the world, is to lead in economic and social development through higher education and research excellence. But unlike metropolitan universities, USQ’s community-centred values are grounded in its regional heritage.

Like many Australian regional universities, USQ has campuses spread over a large geographic area, with its home base situated in Toowoomba – 130 kilometres west of Brisbane. It also has campuses in Springfield and Ipswich and a hub at Stanthorpe, as well as a large online presence.

USQ’s world-class researchers are focused on solving regional and global problems and challenges, and pushing the boundaries of scientific discovery. As a leading innovator in agricultural research, the University collaborates with local and international agricultural organisations, developing new technologies that enhance on-farm productivity and efficiency.

Researchers work to improve cancer survivorship and quality of life, are committed to creating innovative materials for the construction industry, look far into the night skies and – with collaborators at NASA – are leading Australia’s role in the discovery of habitable exoplanetary systems.

By offering a mix of open and flexible programs in Business, Education, Law and Arts (including Creative Arts) and Health, Engineering and Surveying, and Sciences (including Paramedicine and Aviation), USQ meets the educational needs of students all over the world.

In the most recent Good Universities Guide (2019), USQ was recognised for graduates having the highest starting salary in the country. In Queensland, USQ graduates rank number one for full-time employment with 82.5 per cent finding work within four months of finishing their course – well above the national average of 69.5 per cent.

Around 30,000 students from 110 countries study a diverse range of programs through on-campus, online delivery or with overseas education partners, and benefit from USQ’s ongoing commitment to invest in and deliver the highest standard of teaching and learning.

USQ is proud of its achievements and strong commitment to excellence in education, research and student support.
