2018 AUSTRALIAN UNIVERSITY TEACHING AWARDS TO OPEN ON 5 NOVEMBER

Awards to recognise outstanding teaching in Australia’s universities in 2018 will be conferred at the UA Conference next year. Nominations open on 5 November.

The Australian Awards for University Teaching have existed for more than two decades – and these prestigious honours recognise brilliant teachers in Australian higher education institutions.

Universities Australia Chief Executive Catriona Jackson said it was an article of faith in the sector that innovative and inspiring university teaching should be recognised and revered.

“Brilliant and highly-skilled teachers bring to life the mission of our universities to educate and inspire our students and kindle their love of learning for a lifetime,” she said.

“And when our educators teach with skill and passion, that can transform a student’s sense of what is possible in their lives and careers.”

“Superlative teaching – the imparting of knowledge and excitement and confidence and wonder – is what the inspirational winners of these awards do.”

“Awards not only recognise individual teachers – they also recognise developments in teaching practice and student learning, and share it across the sector,” she said.

Initial registrations for nominations must be lodged by Monday 19 November – with the full citations due by Monday 10 December. Full details on how to nominate can be found here.

We look forward to honouring the winners of the awards at the 2019 Universities Australia Higher Education Conference in Canberra at the end of February.
